The Agriates Desert is a vast natural expanse that stretches across the northern part of the island, between the micro-regions of Balagne and Cap Corse. It is a historic area of agriculture (olive trees, fig trees) and livestock farming, which explains why there is only one village across the desert’s 40 km stretch. It is not uncommon to come across wild cows, both on the beaches and in the mountainous hinterland.
